The Synergic Institute is the nonprofit educational umbrella behind Synergic Center.
The Institute focuses on three main values: Innovation, Collaboration, and education. Each partnership developed at the center will be based of these three pillars.
Creating modern contemporary solutions to modern contemporary problems.

Educating citizens on resources and issues in Tuscaloosa County.
The Synergic Center facility was originally built as a textile mill in the 1960’s. The building transitioned over the years to be used by a freight company, as a storage warehouse, and then significantly updated and renovated to become a large scale call center.
However, during the Covid-19 pandemic, the call center closed, and the building was left vacant. Large call centers were no longer in demand and the building was desperate for a new use and purpose rapidly moving into obsolescence and blight.
When Probate Judge Rob Robertson toured this abandoned facility, he began to brainstorm a community oriented way to utilize this space. Boasting a raised floor data center, countless desks, multiple conference rooms, storage rooms, and a large breakroom, the facility was purchased by the Tuscaloosa County Commission and repurposed for next-era uses.
The Tuscaloosa County Commission allocated funds for the purchase and renovations. Over the past year great strides have been made in shaping Synergic Center into its current state. There have been multiple classrooms, offices, and new technologies added to the facility.
Synergic Center is slated to open by March of 2025. Judge Robertson hopes this will be a place that agencies and individuals are able to collaborate, innovate, and educate with the goal of solving community-wide issues
